Added the Miata to my insurance today and my policy went down by $0.56. Hey everyone - go buy a Miata. They’re basically free to own, right? Says the guy who has spent $4500 on parts in 2 weeks. My coworker handed me a package today and said “another package for Mad Max!”.

Adding a Corvette to my policy made it go up...by a whopping $85 for the year for full coverage. Adding vehicles to your coverage after your daily is dirt cheap. It’s amusing that your policy went down though, I’m assuming they changed some of their calculations since you started your policy and that resulted in a lower overall price.

I told my wife I wanted to trade the Dakota for a Miata. She’s in, though she wants me to wait until next year because a Miata can’t haul a bunch of crap halfway across the country

Yeah most of the coverage is rolled into the liability rather than the vehicles themselves.

My Miata with full coverage costs only $10 more per month to insure than my old Acura Integra on my dad’s policy.
It’s like they want me to drive it or something.

That only works when you don’t have children who are old enough to drive. I expect my insurance bill to double at the end of this year. In two more years, it will double again (teenage boy driving).

The Miata is much lower value than my daily so I’m assuming they figure miles in my shitbox are miles that I’m not driving the more expensive thing.

When I added my old 86 chevy truck to my insurance my policy went down $10/month. But since then I’ve sold the truck and bought a toyota sienna minivan and it went back up another $30 per month. GODDAMNIT!!!
